Are there any age limitations?

You must be at least 16 years of age (with parental consent) to skydive at Louisiana AirSports.

Is there any weight limit?

Generally, if you weigh under 220 pounds, all is as usual. Please inform us if you weight more than 220 pounds.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes appropriate for the weather and sports/exercise shoes.  Don't wear jewelry that might fly off at extreme velocity. We provide jumpsuits if you'd like and we provide goggles to wear with or without eyeglasses.

What will the skydive feel like?

The sensation of freefall is more like flying than falling. The parachute flight is inspiring. This portion of the skydive can be anything from an exciting roller coaster type event to a quiet and inspiring flight around the open skies. Most people say their skydive has been one the greatest things that has ever happened to them.

What happens if the parachute doesn't open?

In the very unlikely event that the main parachute doesn't open properly, there is a reserve parachute in the top of the container which has been inspected and packed by a FAA certified parachute rigger. All of our Louisiana AirSports reserve parachutes are equipped with the most reliable and modern AADs (Automatic Activation Device) available, the CYPRESS. This device will deploy the reserve parachute if the main parachute is not opened.

What is your safety record?

For over 14 years Louisiana AirSports has had an excellent safety record due to providing only state of the art equipment and training for our instructors.

Isn't the landing like jumping off a two-story building?

The landing is generally easy. In the early days of sport parachuting, landings were sometimes quite hard. The new parachutes of today allow landings that can be softer than jumping off of a chair. Watch the video on the home page and look at the landing for an example.

How can I make reservations to skydive?

We prefer reservations just so you don't have to wait once you get to the Dropzone. To make a reservation, pay a refundable $25 per person and your spot is reserved. You can call us at 1888-YOU-JUMP or 337-879-0122 or email us at jump (at) louisiana-skydiving.com or you can pay directly on our payment page by using the Buy Now button and paying by credit card/debit card/checking. Please leave all information you want us to know in the notes, including your number & when you want to skydive, and we will contact you to confirm.

How can I order my jump certificates?

Just call 1888-YOU-JUMP or 337-879-0122 and we'll set you up. You are welcomed to go to the payment page and pay by credit/debit card or check using the Paypal button, just make sure you give us all details regarding your purchase.

Are there any "other fees" involved?

NO! When you pay for your jump or course, you are fully paid.  Taxes are included in the price already and so is all gear that you need to make your jump.  This also includes your certificate and a student log book if you want one. There are no extra 911 fees or altitude fees or gas surcharges or other bogus charges added in....EVER!

The only thing you might also want to pay for that is not included is your video or a T-shirt or such.

Why do you have these yellow consumer alerts on every page?

We try to educate everyone who might come across our website and any page in it about the booking scams out there. Even as I write this, we got a phone call from someone who paid them for a few jump certificates only to find out that NO ONE IN LOUISIANA will honor them.  They were told they could jump in Baton Rouge. There never even has been a dropzone in Baton Rouge....ever....but these scammers will tell you that you can jump in any location you even mention. If you don't believe me, ask them if they have a location in Grand Isle or Cut Off or some crazy place like that. They'll say YES!

They spend thousands of dollars advertising so unsuspecting people like you think hey, there's a place to skydive right around the corner! You get all excited, call them up, they go along with it and tell you it costs $165 and you give them your credit card number and then they start adding on these oddball charges that NO LEGITIMATE DROPZONE ADDS ON (we include everything in the price already) and they charge you as much as they think they can get you to agree to.

They'll even promise you can jump, no matter what. The problem is that when you realize no one in Louisiana will take their certificates, they say they'll honor it, but you'll have to jump in Atlanta, GA or wherever the actual scammers are located (none even close to La.).

So there you go. I have no reason to lie to you. And I hate getting these phone calls where people have been royally screwed!

If this happened to you within the past 30 days, you may still be able to get a refund through your credit card, since they can't/won't  deliver what they promised.  But you have to file a refund request with your credit card ASAP. Paypal is great about refunding if you happened to pay this way.

I also suggest you file a complaint with the BBB where they are located and file an internet fraud report (false advertising and promises) with the Federal Trade Commission.  You can go directly to this form at this web address
https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01

Or you can go to www.FTC.gov and you'll find the link to the form there.

When the FTC gets enough complaints about a company or scam they WILL act on it. I know this because I was scammed by a company outside La. and filed a complaint with the FTC, got a phone call and letters and my money refunded in full after they brought criminal charges against that company.  My report was used against the scammers as well as the others they'd received.

DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE SCAMMERS! File a complaint even if you only just talked to them and they told you any of these lies!
